Match Recap

Hearts Cruise to Commanding Victory at Tannadice

Heart Of Midlothian extended their commanding lead at the top of the Premiership with a ruthless 3-0 victory over struggling Dundee United at Tannadice Park, a result that epitomised the gulf in class between Scotland’s top side and the relegation-threatened Terrors.

The league leaders, boasting an impressive 54 points from 24 matches and a superior goal difference of +28, made their intentions clear from the outset. Pierre Kabore opened the scoring after just 11 minutes, capitalising on Hearts’ early dominance in what would prove to be a masterclass in clinical finishing.

United’s evening descended into chaos on 24 minutes when Ali Fatah was shown a straight red card, leaving the home side to face an uphill battle against opponents already 2.25 points per game ahead of their nearest challengers. The numerical disadvantage was swiftly punished as Andreas Kyziridis converted from the penalty spot five minutes later to double Hearts’ advantage.

The statistics told the story of complete Hearts dominance. The visitors enjoyed 70% possession and peppered United’s goal with 22 shots compared to a meagre three from the hosts. Hearts’ 12 shots on target forced eight saves from the United goalkeeper, whilst their own custodian was barely tested with just two saves required.

United’s discipline completely unravelled in the second half, with Paul Camara receiving his marching orders in the 75th minute for the hosts’ second red card of the evening. Playing with nine men, United could offer little resistance as Kabore completed his brace nine minutes from time.

Hearts manager made wholesale changes in the closing stages, underlining the comfortable nature of their victory. The result sees Hearts maintain their seven-place advantage over United in the table, with the Terrors’ woeful form of five defeats in six matches (LLLWD) leaving them in eighth position on 25 points.

ScoresFooty’s prediction system had anticipated a closer 1-1 encounter, but Hearts’ clinical efficiency and United’s indiscipline combined to produce a far more emphatic scoreline that reflected the true gulf between these sides.
