Match Recap
Stalemate in Buenos Aires as Argentinos JRS and Belgrano Share Goalless Draw
Argentinos JRS 0-0 Belgrano Córdoba
Diego Armando Maradona Stadium, Buenos Aires
Argentinos JRS and Belgrano Córdoba played out a frustrating goalless draw at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium on Tuesday night, a result that does neither side any favours in their Liga Profesional Argentina campaigns.
The home side, sitting fifth in the table with 24 points from 16 matches, were unable to capitalise on their superior league position against a Belgrano side that arrived in Buenos Aires occupying 10th place with 20 points. The five-place gap between the teams was barely evident on the pitch as both sides struggled to break the deadlock.
Argentinos JRS entered the match with the better recent form, averaging 1.5 points per game compared to Belgrano’s 1.25, but their mixed run of WWLWL suggested inconsistency that proved costly once again. Belgrano’s recent form of DLDWD indicated a team struggling for victories, and their inability to find a breakthrough continued that trend.
The match was notable for its tactical substitutions, with both managers making wholesale changes in search of a winning formula. Belgrano struck first with an early change in the 37th minute when F. Ricca was withdrawn, followed by a flurry of substitutions around the hour mark as both sides sought fresh impetus.
Argentinos JRS made five changes throughout the evening, bringing on E. Viveros and C. Bravo on 59 minutes, followed by A. Lescano on 70 minutes, and late introductions of L. Giaccone and H. López in the final stages. Belgrano responded with four substitutions of their own, with F. González and N. Fernández entering on the hour mark, and E. Rigoni making a late appearance with four minutes remaining.
Despite the tactical tinkering from both dugouts, neither side could find the clinical edge required to break down organised defences. The result maintains Argentinos JRS’s positive goal difference of +5 compared to Belgrano’s +2, but both teams will rue missed opportunities to climb higher in a competitive 30-team league table.
This stalemate extends both teams’ search for consistency in what remains a tightly contested Liga Profesional Argentina season.
